As the Dallas Cowboys’ search for their next head coach intensifies, the name of Deion Sanders continues to pop up in discussions despite no official interest from the team. Adding fuel to the fire, Boise State star running back Ashton Jeanty recently expressed his support for “Coach Prime” taking over America’s Team as he is set to go through the NFL Draft process.

Jeanty, a Heisman Trophy finalist and one of the top prospects for the 2025 NFL Draft, has already voiced his enthusiasm about potentially landing in Dallas. However, the thought of playing under Sanders’ leadership makes the opportunity even more appealing.

“I think that would be a real great opportunity,” Jeanty told Fox News Digital. “Coach Prime is great at just giving guys opportunities and using them to the best of their abilities. Kind of like Travis Hunter playing both ways. Most coaches wouldn’t do that. I think he would excel at the position.”

Jeanty’s praise of Sanders goes beyond his coaching ability. Both players share a strong Christian faith, with Jeanty emphasizing the importance of having a coach with similar values. “I’m a man of faith. He’s a man of faith,” Jeanty said. “Having my previous head coach be a man of faith is a great thing. You can see the great relationship he has with his guys off the field as well as on it.”

While Jeanty’s endorsement highlights Sanders’ appeal, the odds of him taking the reins in Dallas are slim. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport recently reported that it’s “very unlikely” Sanders would even receive an interview for the position. Despite this, the rumors continue to swirl, with Jeanty’s comments adding fuel to the intrigue.

Sanders has already proven himself as a dynamic college football coach, taking Jackson State and Colorado to new heights with his bold, player-centric approach. But whether he’s ready—or willing—to make the leap to the NFL remains uncertain.

For Ashton Jeanty, though, the dream scenario is clear. As the Dallas Cowboys continue their search for the right coach, fans and analysts alike wonder what a Deion Sanders-led Dallas team could look like.
