The Cleveland Browns were just routed by the Houston Texans in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs, so it’s time that the Browns start looking to the offseason.

Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox thinks Cleveland should look to make improvements at the wide receiver position, citing Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tee Higgins as a potential target in free agency.

Knox qualifies his statement by saying that the Browns will have to get their salary cap situation sorted out first, since as of right now, they do not have the cap room needed to sign Higgins.

However, if Cleveland does remedy its financial situation, Knox thinks Higgins would be a fine wide out to pursue.

Knox’s suggestion makes sense, particularly when you look at the Browns’ current situation at receiver. Amari Cooper is getting set to enter the final year of his deal, and Elijah Moore is the second-best wide out on the roster.

Higgins is coming off of a rather disappointing 2023 campaign. He was limited to just 12 games due to injuries, and during his time on the field, he logged 42 catches for 656 yards and five touchdowns in what was, by far, the least productive season of his NFL career thus far.

The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Clemson, was selected by the Bengals in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

He played in every game during his rookie year, catching 67 passes for 908 yards and six scores. The following year, Higgins showed improvement, hauling in 74 receptions for 1,091 yards while reaching the end zone six times. He then posted nearly identical numbers in 2022, snaring 74 balls for 1,029 yards and seven touchdowns.

Tee Higgins will represent one of the top wide receivers on the open market this offseason. We’ll see if the Browns decide to make a play for the man who has been their AFC North rival the last four years.
