Aaron Rodgers’ inaugural season with the New York Jets didn’t unfold according to the initial plan, but there’s some optimism as he expresses his desire to stay with the team beyond the upcoming year.

In a recent season-ending press conference, Rodgers made it clear that he not only intends to continue playing in 2024 but also harbors a genuine desire to remain in the Big Apple for the long haul.

“I was thinking when I got traded it was going to be a one-year thing,” Rodgers said. “Then, I got out here, realized how much fun I was having kind of falling back in love with the game and I said to you guys this is not going to be a one-year thing. Then, it gets taken away. This is not a one-year, in my mind. Obviously, it’s what have you done for me lately and I’m going to have to go out and prove I can still play at a high level. But I’d like this to be more than just next year.”

In his mind, Rodgers envisions a more extended stay with the Jets. While he acknowledges the “what have you done for me lately” nature of the NFL, he’s determined to demonstrate that he can still perform at an elite level. His aspiration is for this journey to extend beyond the upcoming season.

Unfortunately, Rodgers’ 2023 season was cut short after just four plays. The four-time MVP suffered a devastating Achilles tendon injury during the very first drive of the season.

Despite Aaron Rodgers’ optimism about his health for 2024, the Jets have indicated their intention to bolster their quarterback depth with experienced talent during the offseason.
