The Jacksonville Jaguars lost their fourth straight game this past Sunday, falling to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by a score of 30-12. Afterward, quarterback Trevor Lawrence sounded like he had had enough.

“It just looks like we don’t even practice,” Lawrence told reporters, via Michael DiRocco of ESPN. “We look lost. No sense of urgency. The list goes on and on. I feel like we have good weeks of preparation and I feel like we’re prepared going into games and then something happens on game day the last month where it just all falls apart.”

Sounds like a shot at head coach Doug Pederson, even if it wasn’t Lawrence’s intention.

“This is our season,” added Lawrence. “We’ve worked hard to be in this position and we’re close to pissing it away so we’ve got to figure it out.”

Several weeks ago, the Jaguars looked like they had things on lock. They were sitting at 8-3 and not only looked like they would cruise to an AFC South division title, but they also looked like legitimate Super Bowl contenders.

Now, the Jaguars are locked in a three-way tie with the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans in the division and were lucky enough that both the Colts and Texans lost on Sunday.

Lawrence had a rather shaky outing against the Buccaneers, to say the least, going 17-for-29 with 211 yards, a touchdown and a couple of interceptions.

It was just his latest rough performance on the season overall, as he has thrown for 3,736 yards, 19 touchdowns and 12 picks in what has certainly been a step back from his terrific 2022 campaign in which he totaled 4,113 yards, 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Lawrence’s status heading into Week 16 was initially in question thanks to a concussion he suffered during his team’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens the week prior. However, Lawrence cleared concussion protocol late in the week and was able to make the trip to Tampa.

He has also been battling an ankle injury he sustained back in Week 13.

Jacksonville will head back home to host the Carolina Panthers next weekend before taking on the Tennessee Titans on the road to wrap up the regular season.

Trevor Lawrence and the Jags are aiming to make back-to-back playoff appearances for the first time since the 1999-00 campaign.
