San Francisco 49ers edge-rusher Nick Bosa already had bad blood with former ESPN analyst Ryan Clark stemming from an incident back in October 2024 when Bosa wore a Make America Great Again hat on live television during a Brock Purdy postgame interview.
“When Nick Bosa shows up in a MAGA hat during Brock Purdy’s interview, he knows exactly what he’s doing,” Clark said on “The Pivot” podcast.
“… There’s a long following of Nick Bosa’s tweets, where it’s a lot of pushback against the culture, which is weird because in the locker room it’s a melting pot of people where you accept each other’s differences.
“… The MAGA movement has been very clear that all lives don’t matter the same. It’s very clear to me that Nick Bosa understands that when you wear that hat, you take a side of division in a sport that’s supposed to bring us together. I’m just waiting for all the people who comment under political and sports things to shut up and dribble to tell him to shut up and rush.”

When Clark was laid off by ESPN earlier this week, Bosa took the opportunity to enjoy a victory lap at Clark’s expense.

@AndrewMarchand,” The Athletic posted on X. “Clark had been with the network for a decade and was slated to be a large part in its Super Bowl 61 coverage.”
Bosa responded with a “👌” emoji in a quote tweet of The Athletic’s message, making it clear how he felt about Clark’s firing.
Bosa’s first post in four years had people spiraling on social media.
His comment section was flooded with users ripping into him for celebrating Clark losing his job (he found out he was being laid off while he was on “NFL Live” during a commercial break and didn’t finish the show), accusing him of spreading hate.
“Now we know Ryan been living in your head rent free,” one user commented.
“Bro ain’t tweet since 22’ but his inner bigot couldn’t resist this troll,” another user replied.
“You really are who they say you are. Thats unfortunate,” a third user noted.
