As the San Francisco 49ers prepare to face the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, quarterback Brock Purdy has established himself as one of the most efficient and productive players in the league through the opening weeks of the 2026 season.

The undefeated 49ers enter the contest with a perfect 4-0 record, looking to extend their strong start against a proven championship contender.

The teams last met in the NFC Divisional Round in January, when the Seahawks delivered a commanding 41-6 victory.

This time around, however, Purdy and his teammates arrive with renewed confidence, driven largely by the quarterback’s standout individual performance.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter recently spotlighted two notable milestones that Purdy has reached heading into the matchup.

Purdy’s Total QBR of 89.6 ranks as the highest for any quarterback through the first four games of a season since Aaron Rodgers posted a 90.6 mark in 2020, the same year Rodgers captured NFL MVP honors.

In addition, Purdy has become the first quarterback since Dan Marino in 1984 to throw at least 10 touchdown passes while absorbing zero sacks across the opening four contests of a season.

Marino earned MVP recognition that year as well, placing Purdy’s early achievement in rare historical company.

Purdy’s raw production has matched the advanced metrics. He has completed 69.9 percent of his passes for 1,007 yards, with 11 touchdowns and only one interception.

He has also contributed on the ground, rushing 20 times for 122 yards and a touchdown. Those numbers have fueled early MVP chatter even as the 49ers have managed a thinned-out receiving group.

Wide receiver Ricky Pearsall is out for the remainder of the season, while De’Zhaun Stribling, Christian Kirk, and DeMarcus Robinson are all on injured reserve. Veteran Mike Evans has played through discomfort and appeared in every game so far.

Despite the injuries, Purdy has maintained accuracy, decision-making, and protection in the pocket, keeping San Francisco’s offense effective.

The road game in Seattle now offers a significant measuring stick against a Seahawks defense that has already demonstrated its ability to control high-stakes contests.

For Purdy, the matchup presents a chance to build on his historic early-season pace and further establish himself among the league’s top quarterbacks as the 2026 campaign continues.
