The New York Jets ruled pass rusher Kingsley Enagbare inactive Sunday, removing him from their lineup against the Chicago Bears less than two hours before kickoff because of a knee injury.
The team posted its seven inactives on social media about 90 minutes ahead of the Week 4 game at Soldier Field. Enagbare’s absence stood out as the clearest late change.
He had been listed with a knee issue all week. Enagbare practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, missed Thursday’s session entirely and returned to limited work Friday.
Jets coach Aaron Glenn said Friday that he felt “encouraged” any player who practiced on any basis would be available. When asked about Enagbare, Glenn called the problem “just a little tweak in practice.”
The final inactive list showed the issue had grown beyond that description. No further medical update was released before the game.
Enagbare arrived in New York as a free agent addition after four seasons with the Green Bay Packers. The fifth-round pick from South Carolina in 2022 had played in all 17 games each of those years.
Through three games this season he has two sacks and one forced fumble. ESPN lists him with nine total tackles over that span.
He recorded a sack in the Jets’ season-opening win at Tennessee and another sack the following week against Green Bay. His snap count has ranked among the higher totals for Jets edge players early in the year.
Pro Football Focus has credited him with seven pressures so far and a run-defense grade that ranks in the top 20 among qualified edge defenders.
The Jets signed him to a one-year deal in March after he posted two sacks and 39 tackles in 17 games for the Packers in 2025. Career sack totals entering this season stood at 11.5.
His absence compounds an already thin roster. Five teammates were ruled out on Friday’s final injury report: running back Breece Hall, tight end Mason Taylor, wide receiver Adonai Mitchell, left guard Dylan Parham and linebacker Kiko Mauigoa.
Cornerback Nahshon Wright is the other inactive and is listed as a healthy scratch.
The Jets enter the game at 1-2. The Bears are 2-1 and are favored by 3.5 points.
Enagbare’s early role had centered on early-down work and run support while younger edge players rotated on passing downs. Without him, that rotation shortens against a Bears offense that has scored in the mid-20s per game through three weeks.
League officials and the Jets have not released an updated timeline. The team has treated the knee situation as developing.
