The Las Vegas Raiders added another name to their practice squad on Monday, signing wide receiver Tyler Scott after releasing Ronnie Bell from the same unit, the team announced.
The move is modest on paper, but it fits the midseason pattern of teams hunting for speed, special-teams help, and a receiver who can still develop after bouncing around the league.
Scott is 24 and comes from Akron, Ohio. Chicago selected him in the fourth round of the 2023 draft out of Cincinnati, 133rd overall, and signed him to a four-year rookie contract worth about $4.5 million.
He looked like a classic vertical threat coming out of college. In his final season with the Bearcats he caught 54 passes for 899 yards and nine touchdowns, following a 2021 campaign of 30 receptions for 520 yards and five scores.
Those two years, plus a 4.4-range 40-yard dash and a 39.5-inch vertical at the combine, explained why the Bears used a mid-round pick on him.
The NFL translation has been harder. Scott played all 17 games as a rookie and started four, finishing with 17 catches for 168 yards plus a handful of carries. In 2024 his offensive role nearly vanished.
He appeared in 11 games, recorded one reception for five yards, and found more consistent work returning kickoffs, taking eight for 207 yards.
Chicago waived him at the end of 2025 camp after stacking the receiver room with DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, and later additions that left little space for a fourth-rounder still waiting on a breakout.
What followed was the familiar tour of practice squads. Scott landed with the Colts, was let go in September, spent a short stretch with Seattle, then joined the Rams.
Los Angeles kept him around into 2026 before cutting him among the final roster reductions.
Each stop suggested the same scouting report: enough speed and special-teams value to keep on the fringe, not enough production yet to hold a 53-man job.
Las Vegas is now the next stop. Releasing Bell to create the roster space is a corresponding move, not a statement about either player’s ceiling. For Scott, the job is straightforward.
He has to earn practice reps, stay ready for an elevation, and show that the burst that once made him a draft pick still shows up on tape.
Practice-squad signings rarely change a season overnight, but they do give a young receiver one more chance to prove he belongs on a Sunday roster.
If Scott can turn speed into reliable routes and special-teams snaps, this could be more than another short stay. If not, the carousel will keep turning.
