Tankathon’s latest 2027 NFL mock draft frames the Miami Dolphins as a team ready to swing again at quarterback, projecting Oregon’s Dante Moore to Miami at No. 7 overall.
The pick would not be a luxury selection. It would be an aggressive attempt to replace Malik Willis after one season as the starter.
Miami already spent big to change the position once. The Dolphins released Tua Tagovailoa in March, absorbing an NFL-record $99 million dead-cap charge, and signed Willis to a three-year, $67.5 million contract with $45 million guaranteed.
Willis arrived with six career starts. The bet was that new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and coach Jeff Hafley could turn a former Green Bay backup into a long-term answer.
Tankathon’s mock says Miami may not wait to find out.
The site updates its draft order after every game and factors team needs into the board. Miami is seventh in that order, behind Houston, Tennessee, the New York Jets (via Indianapolis), Tampa Bay, Washington and the Los Angeles Chargers.
In that spot, Tankathon has the Dolphins taking Moore instead of another skill player or lineman. Jeremiah Smith, Colin Simmons and Arch Manning were already off the board.
That sequence makes the choice sharper. Miami would pass on waiting for Willis to grow and use a top-10 pick on a quarterback who just opted to stay in college rather than enter the 2026 draft.
Moore is listed at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds. So far this season, he has racked up 849 passing yards, nine touchdowns, no interceptions, a 68.5 completion percentage and a 182.0 rating.
In 2025, Moore completed 296 of 412 passes for 3,565 yards, 30 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while leading Oregon to a 13-2 record and third-team All-Big Ten honors.
A first-round investment in that profile would signal that Willis is a bridge, not the foundation. Hafley’s staff already rebuilt the roster around a new quarterback. Drafting Moore would mean doing it again before Willis’ deal is halfway done.
The mock leaves other passers on the board. Miami’s Darian Mensah goes ninth. Notre Dame’s CJ Carr is 29th. Tankathon still sends Moore to the Dolphins first.
That is the aggressive read: take the proven Oregon starter in range rather than hope Willis’ limited sample becomes a franchise career.
Miami’s order can still rise or fall. A prolonged slump would only make the quarterback question louder.
For now, Tankathon’s projection is clear. The Dolphins used free agency to move on from Tagovailoa. This mock has them using the draft to move on from Willis.
