Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson has spoken up for quarterback Jalen Hurts after a tense Week 2 road win over the Tennessee Titans.
The Eagles entered the matchup as heavy favorites against a struggling Titans team, yet the afternoon in Nashville turned into a one-possession grind that tested Philadelphia’s composure until the final minutes.
With the Eagles trailing late, Hurts took the offense down the field and delivered the touchdown that secured a 24-20 victory. The drive drew praise around the league, and Jackson added his voice on Good Morning Football.
“I feel like Jalen needs to get the credit he deserves. He’s a winner, man. I know a lot of people always criticize him, and they are hard on him,” Jackson said.
That criticism has lingered even after two early-season wins, in part because the opponents were the Washington Commanders and the Titans.
Jackson dismissed the panic.
“The Eagles are fine. We’re not going to panic at the end of the day; it’s the NFL. Any given Sunday, any team can get a win,” he added.
Jackson also highlighted the specific moment that flipped the Titans game.
“I’d say for that game, they came back in that game when they were down, and I seen [Jeffery] Simmons on the sidelines talking crazy like they were about to win the game, and here goes Jalen Hurts driving down for the touchdown,” Jackson said. “It’s good to see, man. I’m supporting my Eagles always. I’m happy DeVonta Smith is doing his thing. We’re going to continue to be the Eagles, and we’re going to continue to win.”
Hurts finished 26-of-37 for 264 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw two interceptions, including one near pick-six from the red zone, but the late scoring drive erased those mistakes.
The result left Philadelphia 2-0 and Jackson, a former Eagles star himself, publicly backing both the quarterback and the locker room’s mindset.
In Jackson’s view the early schedule does not change the standard.
Wins still count the same, and Hurts still has to prove it every Sunday. For now, the former receiver is content to remind people that the Eagles, and their quarterback, keep finding ways to finish.
Philadelphia will face the Chicago Bears on Monday night.
