The Los Angeles Rams consider Puka Nacua a pregame decision for Monday night’s game against the New York Giants, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Sunday.
Nacua is listed as questionable with a hip injury after missing practice Friday and Saturday. Kickoff is 8:15 p.m. ET.
Coach Sean McVay described the problem Saturday as soreness in Nacua’s groin that showed up after Thursday’s practice. McVay said it is not connected to the psoas issue that cost Nacua time in training camp.
“[We are] being smart with him as a skill player,” McVay said Saturday. “Whether or not he plays is to be determined.”
Nacua practiced Thursday, McVay said, but did not feel fully like himself when trying to open up and hit top speed.
The Rams have not indicated a significant new injury.
Nacua led Los Angeles in targets in the season opener, a 27-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne, Australia. He caught five of nine targets for 74 yards, including a 41-yard reception.
Matthew Stafford threw for 155 yards in that game, and Nacua accounted for 74 of them.
His 2025 season was the best of his career. Nacua led the NFL with 129 receptions and finished with 1,715 receiving yards, second in the league behind Seattle’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba. He also caught 10 touchdown passes, his first double-digit season.
The 129 catches tied Antonio Brown’s 2014 total for the seventh-most in a single season.
A fifth-round pick out of BYU in 2023, Nacua is a two-time Pro Bowler and was named an All-Pro last season. He is playing out the final year of his rookie contract.
If Nacua cannot go, Davante Adams would be Stafford’s top target. Jordan Whittington is doubtful with a quadriceps injury, which leaves Konata Mumpfield, Xavier Smith, CJ Daniels and Tutu Atwell as the other receivers. Tyler Higbee and Terrance Ferguson lead the tight end group.
Adams caught three passes for 26 yards against San Francisco.
The matchup could favor the Rams if Nacua plays. Giants cornerback Deonte Banks is questionable with a calf injury, and Paulson Adebo is on injured reserve.
Monday’s game also brings Aaron Donald’s return from retirement. McVay confirmed Saturday that the three-time Defensive Player of the Year will make his season debut.
Should Nacua be held out, it would be the first game he has missed this season. Inactives are due about 90 minutes before kickoff, at 6:45 p.m. ET.
