George Kittle carries no injury designation into the San Francisco 49ers’ home opener against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, after practicing fully Friday.
Kittle was limited in the first two practices of the week before the Friday upgrade, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.
The tight end is eight months removed from a torn right Achilles tendon. He was hurt Jan. 11 in the 49ers’ wild-card playoff win over the Philadelphia Eagles and had surgery three days later.
He played in the opener in Melbourne but on a controlled workload. Kittle played 47 percent of the offensive snaps and drew five targets in the 27-7 win over the Los Angeles Rams.
Two other 49ers enter Sunday as questionable, and both are expected to play.
Rookie running back Kaelon Black was added to the injury report Thursday with a groin injury. He was limited Friday and drew the questionable tag, but Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Sunday that Black is on track to play.
Black backs up Christian McCaffrey. A limited role for him would likely mean more work for McCaffrey.
Kicker Eddy Pineiro is questionable with an illness. He did not practice Thursday. Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reported that Pineiro is expected to be active.
Pineiro opened the scoring in Melbourne with a 20-yard field goal. He also converted extra points in the rout.
The 49ers are still dealing with longer-term losses. Tight end Jake Tonges is out for the season after a knee injury against the Rams, which makes Kittle’s workload more important.
Rookie receiver De’Zhaun Stribling had ankle surgery and is expected to miss about 10 weeks. Receiver Ricky Pearsall is on injured reserve for the season.
To fill those spots, San Francisco promoted receiver KhaDarel Hodge and tight end Brayden Willis from the practice squad. It also signed tight end Jack Stoll to the practice squad.
The 49ers dominated the opener. Brock Purdy threw three touchdown passes and was not sacked on 34 attempts, and the defense forced an interception and a fumble.
Miami enters Levi’s Stadium after its own opener, with Kittle one of several 49ers still building back.
Kickoff is 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX. The 49ers release inactives about 90 minutes earlier, which will confirm the statuses of Black and Pineiro.
Should Kittle get through Sunday without a setback, his snap share would be the number to watch for a player still less than a year out from surgery.
