The Jacksonville Jaguars have terminated the contract of defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna, clearing a roster spot for offensive lineman Timothy McKay.
The move came as the team continued addressing injuries along the offensive line ahead of the preseason and the Sept. 13 season opener against the Cleveland Browns.
Bohanna, listed at 6-foot-4 and 355 pounds, signed with Jacksonville on June 1 during organized team activities. The 27-year-old Memphis native and Kentucky product entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick (192nd overall) by the Dallas Cowboys in 2021.
He appeared in 40 games with 13 starts across stops with the Cowboys, Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans, Seattle Seahawks, and Green Bay Packers, totaling 44 tackles, three tackles for loss, and one quarterback hit.
A classic run-first nose tackle, Bohanna was valued for occupying blockers and stuffing interior gaps rather than generating consistent pass-rush pressure.
After a promising start that included nine starts in Dallas, he became a journeyman, cycling through practice squads and short-term deals. His 2025 season split between Seattle and Green Bay produced just five tackles in six games.
The corresponding addition of McKay, a 24-year-old undrafted free agent from NC State, reflects Jacksonville’s priority on offensive line depth. McKay spent 2025 on the Washington Commanders’ practice squad after going undrafted.
In college he started 35 of 56 games at both tackle and guard and earned multiple William V. Campbell Trophy semifinalist honors as a scholar-athlete. The Jaguars had signed him August 17, waived him two days later after trading for Daniel Faalele, and brought him back immediately.
Jacksonville has been shoring up the offensive line amid absences for Patrick Mekari and Wyatt Milum (the latter expected to be short-term) and after activating Cole Van Lanen from the physically unable to perform list.
On the defensive interior the Jaguars already feature veterans Arik Armstead and DaVon Hamilton, plus recent additions Ruke Orhorhoro (acquired via trade) and third-round rookie Albert Regis.
Roster cuts to 53 players are due August 30. Bohanna, now a free agent, will look for another landing spot—likely a practice squad or a team seeking a massive run-stopper.
His size remains an asset in a league that still values space-eaters, even if his latest opportunity in Jacksonville proved brief.
