The Green Bay Packers brought in free-agent quarterback Seth Henigan for a workout Saturday as the team continues evaluating its depth at the position during training camp.

According to the NFL transaction wire, Henigan was among the players who participated in the session at the team’s facilities. The Packers also conducted tryouts for three free-agent wide receivers on the same day.

Green Bay currently carries four quarterbacks on its training camp roster. That group provides competition and insurance behind the primary starters, yet the organization still saw value in taking a closer look at available options such as Henigan.

Henigan entered the professional ranks after going unselected in the 2025 NFL Draft. He signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent shortly afterward and spent the early part of his rookie year with the club.

He remained with Jacksonville through training camp and the preseason. When the Jaguars trimmed their roster to the required limit ahead of the regular season, Henigan was among those released.

Jacksonville later signed him to its practice squad, giving the young quarterback another opportunity to develop within the organization. That arrangement ended in late September when the team released him once more.

Henigan concluded his first professional season with the Indianapolis Colts. The move allowed him to finish the year on an active NFL roster after the earlier stops in Jacksonville.

Before turning pro, Henigan built an impressive résumé at the University of Memphis. Over four seasons with the Tigers, he threw for 14,266 yards and 104 touchdowns.

He completed 64 percent of his career passes and averaged eight yards per attempt. Those numbers reflected consistent production and efficiency throughout his college career.

Henigan posted at least 3,300 passing yards in each of his four seasons at Memphis. That level of output marked him as one of the more productive quarterbacks in recent college football history.

The Packers’ decision to host him comes as teams around the league continue searching for depth and developmental talent at the quarterback position. Workouts like these often serve as opportunities to evaluate players who may fit specific scheme needs or provide emergency depth later in the season.

Henigan’s combination of college production and limited but valuable professional experience could appeal to a franchise looking for versatile options. Whether the tryout leads to a contract remains to be seen, but it underscores the ongoing roster evaluation process in Green Bay.

Training camp remains a fluid period for NFL teams, with injuries, performance and scheme fits all factoring into final decisions. The Packers’ willingness to bring in additional talent, even while already carrying four quarterbacks, highlights that approach.

For Henigan, the session offered another chance to showcase his skills in front of an NFL coaching staff. After navigating the ups and downs of his rookie campaign across two organizations, any opportunity to land with a new team carries significance.

The Packers have a history of developing quarterbacks and maintaining competitive depth charts.

Adding another evaluation day into the schedule fits that pattern as the roster continues to take shape ahead of the regular season.
