Las Vegas superstar Maxx Crosby has made no secret of the fact that he is fully aware of the swirling trade rumors linking him to the Dallas Cowboys.

The standout edge rusher, a native of the Dallas area, addressed the chatter head-on in recent comments, offering a candid perspective that stands in contrast to the usual athlete responses of claimed indifference.

“It doesn’t change anything for me, to be honest,” Crosby told USA Today of the Cowboys rumors. “People act like they don’t … if you’re an athlete in this position, you see everything. Regardless, if you want to or not. You can try to live in a cage, but then your teammate is coming up to you, ‘How do you deal with it?’”

The Cowboys had shown serious interest in Crosby during the late stages of the offseason. Reports indicated they pursued a deal in February and March, only to see the Baltimore Ravens emerge as the higher bidder.

That agreement ultimately collapsed when Crosby failed a physical due to concerns over his knee, sending him back to the Raiders. Dallas then shifted focus toward other defensive options, including Rashan Gary, and appeared to close the book on the Crosby pursuit.

“I’m getting rehab, the first thing this morning, and all my teammates are looking at it and I’m trying to ignore it. But ultimately, you just have to learn to roll with the punches,” Crosby added.

Owner and general manager Jerry Jones recently suggested otherwise. When asked about walking away from the Crosby chase, Jones pushed back, stating the team had not fully abandoned the idea. He emphasized that Dallas understood the injury situation and still believed Crosby could contribute, while carefully noting that the player remains under contract with the Raiders.

Jones also hinted that the Cowboys continue exploring significant defensive additions and have engaged in trade discussions throughout the week.

For a team that traded away Micah Parsons last summer, the need for a high-impact pass rusher remains clear. New defensive coordinator Christian Parker inherits a unit that has undergone changes, yet it still lacks a proven, high-volume sack producer. Crosby’s résumé makes him an obvious fit: multiple Pro Bowl selections, All-Pro recognition, and a consistent ability to disrupt opposing offenses.

Crosby’s own words reveal a measured reaction to the speculation. He acknowledged that athletes in his position inevitably encounter the media noise, whether through direct reading or conversations with teammates.

During rehab sessions, he has noticed colleagues discussing the reports while he tries to tune them out. Rather than letting it distract him, Crosby framed the attention as validation of his performance. He pointed out that hearing analysts debate his potential to help a contending team feels affirming, regardless of whether the talk proves accurate.

The broader context includes additional names circulating in Dallas trade discussions, such as Miami linebacker Jordyn Brooks, who recently signed a substantial contract extension yet still appears on rumor boards. Crosby remains the most prominent target given his production and local ties.

Whether the Cowboys ultimately make another run at Crosby remains uncertain. League tampering rules limit how openly teams can discuss players on other rosters, and the Raiders retain control of his rights.

For now, Crosby continues preparing for the upcoming season in Las Vegas, treating the external noise as just another element of a career that has already featured significant personal and professional challenges. The conversation around him underscores both his value and the Cowboys’ ongoing search for defensive reinforcements.
