The 32-year-old right-hander has delivered strong results this season, posting a 2.32 ERA and a 1.065 WHIP across 42 appearances and 31 innings. He has shown excellent control, issuing just eight walks while generally keeping the ball in the yard.
Cano may not overwhelm hitters with strikeouts—his career rate sits around 8.7 per nine innings—but his consistency over the past several seasons makes him a valuable asset. In 2023, he earned an All-Star nod with a sparkling 2.11 ERA and remarkable walk rate.
Over the last four years, his ERA sits at 3.21 with a 3.37 FIP, underscoring his dependability in the bullpen.
What further enhances Cano’s appeal is his team control through 2028. Acquiring him would not only provide immediate help but also long-term stability without the risk of him hitting free agency soon after. Of course, the Orioles are unlikely to part with Cano cheaply given his contractual situation and performance.
