The Chicago Bears have certainly been busy revamping their offensive line this offseason, swinging trades for Jonah Jackson and Joe Thuney while also signing Drew Dalman in free agency.

The Bears’ offensive line was a significant weakness in 2024, and with Chicago looking to cultivate quarterback Caleb Williams in the best way possible, addressing it immediately was the right decision.

However, Brad Biggs of The Chicago Tribune feels that the Bears still need to make another move with one if their recent additions, and it seems like a rather urgent concern.

“I don’t believe you can hold the guy up as this great example of new leadership that you brought into your locker room without proving it with a contract,” Biggs said during an appearance on 670 The Score.

Chicago acquired Thuney in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this month. The veteran has made three straight Pro Bowls while also earning two consecutive First-Team All-Pro selections.

Thuney has plenty of big-game experience, as he has won four Super Bowl championships between the New England Patriots and the Chiefs throughout his NFL career, which began in 2016.

The 32-year-old has one year remaining on his deal, but the Bears may be a bit hesitant to hand him a lucrative long-term contract based on his age. However, if Chicago does plan on making Thuney an integral part of the offense moving forward, Biggs has a point: it doesn’t exactly send a good message if the Bears allow him to walk into 2025 on a lame-duck deal.

We’ll see if Thuney is able to elevate Chicago in the trenches next season.
