According to Todd McShay on “The McShay Show,” Sanders’ approach during these critical meetings has raised eyebrows among league insiders.
NFL Scouts Rip Shedeur Sanders
McShay shared insights from team representatives who left their meetings with Sanders feeling underwhelmed by his level of engagement.
“The two people that I spoke to were in meetings…Teams in the top 10 drafting that need a quarterback,” McShay said. “The two people that I spoke to in these positions, left the meeting feeling like Shedeur Sanders was not overly concerned with what they thought of him. They had a 15-minute meeting with them, and when they were done, they both said in different ways, different words, that they did not feel like Shedeur Sanders cared all that much about what that organization thought of him.”
This feedback marks a concerning development for Sanders, the son of NFL legend and current Colorado head coach Deion Sanders. Despite his strong on-field performance—he threw for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns last season—Sanders’ perceived lack of professionalism in interviews could impact his draft position.
“The other person that I talked to said he wasn’t taking it seriously at all,” McShay added, indicating a potential disconnect between Sanders’ public persona and his private interactions with teams.
Shedeur Sanders Called ‘Brash’ and ‘Arrogant’
This sentiment was echoed by NFL insider Josina Anderson, who reported that a quarterbacks coach from a team drafting in the top seven found Sanders to be “brash” and “arrogant” during their interaction.
Despite these concerns, Sanders’ talent remains undeniable. He was named the 2024 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and is projected by the Bleacher Report Scouting Department to be the No. 2 quarterback taken in the draft behind Miami’s Cam Ward. His impressive statistics and the accolades from his college career suggest a high ceiling in professional football.
