This decision comes as Leonard eases back into the lineup following an offseason knee surgery.

Since making his season debut on Jan. 4, Leonard has appeared in only two games, playing just over 19 and 20 minutes, respectively.
Lue emphasized that patience is key for Leonard’s return to form. “It’ll take a little time for him to get fully comfortable being back on the court,” Lue remarked, acknowledging Leonard’s better performance in practices compared to games.
Leonard himself agrees with the cautious strategy. “I’m taking my time,” Leonard stated. “I’ve done that in the past, and it led me on the bench, so I’m good where I’m at.”
