New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis is excited about the Super Bowl returning to New Orleans, but he believes the halftime show is missing one key ingredient: Lil Wayne. With the NFL announcing Kendrick Lamar as the performer for Super Bowl 59, Davis feels the iconic New Orleans rapper should be part of the performance, given his deep ties to the city’s culture.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, Davis expressed his admiration for Kendrick Lamar and acknowledged him as one of the hottest acts in music, alongside Taylor Swift.

However, Davis emphasized the importance of including someone from Louisiana’s rich musical heritage, especially Lil Wayne. “You can’t mention New Orleans and not think about Lil Wayne,” Davis said.

The Importance of New Orleans Representation

Davis pointed out the significance of New Orleans’ deep musical roots, referencing the city’s historical contributions to jazz and hip-hop. “When you think about the hip-hop scene and how much that has taken over sports, you think about people like No Limit Soldiers, Cash Money, the Hot Boyz, and Lil Boosie from the area,” Davis said.

He praised the Super Bowl 56 halftime show in Los Angeles, which featured California legends like Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, and suggested that New Orleans deserves a similar celebration of its local icons.

While Davis is a fan of Kendrick Lamar, he believes Lil Wayne’s presence would honor New Orleans and its music culture. “I think it would only be right,” Davis remarked, noting that there is still time for the NFL to incorporate Lil Wayne into the performance.

Hope for a Collaboration

Davis, who has played 13 seasons in the NFL and is a five-time All-Pro, hopes that the NFL and Kendrick Lamar will work together to include Lil Wayne in the Super Bowl halftime show.

He mentioned that, while he’s not involved in the final decision, he is on several NFL committees working behind the scenes to ensure the best entertainment for fans. “I know the NFL’s working tirelessly,” Davis said, expressing optimism that the league will consider his idea.
