ESPN recently released draft comps for some projected lottery picks. Who did they have the projected No.1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher compared too?

As we get ready for the 2024 NBA Draft, scouts and teams will be frantically trying to find out who will translate to the NBA from overseas, the G League, and college the best.

With the NBA Finals underway, the projected No. 1 overall pick is Zaccharie Risacher from France. The Atlanta Hawks were shockingly awarded the No. 1 overall pick via the 2024 NBA Draft Lottery, as they will be able to try to the best players available.

Recently, ESPN listed some draft comps for projected lottery picks. Here’s what they had to say about Zaccharie Risacher

Zaccharie Risacher, SF, Bourg (France)

Top 100 rank: No. 1 | Mock draft projection: No. 1 to Atlanta Hawks

High end: Khris Middleton with more defense

Low end: Trey Murphy III

Risacher brings a lot to the court as an athletic, 3-and-D wing with room to expand his game on both ends. While not likely to become a No. 1 option on offense, as he gets more comfortable playing off multiple dribbles and develops as a shooter, it’s easy to see him becoming a viable wing scorer a la Middleton, who has had an outstanding run in Milwaukee, including a title in 2021.

As the projected No. 1 overall pick, seeing Zaccharie Risacher with a high-end comp of Khris Middleton is a tad disappointing. While Middleton has been an All-Star caliber player and has won a title with the Milwaukee Bucks, he has never been considered a superstar in the league.

When selecting first overall, you hope to get a generational talent like we saw last season with Victor Wembanyama to the San Antonio Spurs. It doesn’t appear like the ceiling is that high for Risacher, but that doesn’t mean he won’t have a great career.

If he ends up being like Middleton and finds himself in the right situation with the Hawks, they will likely be pleased to draft a player who makes a few All-Star teams. What it does seem like is that Risacher is going to be an impact player on the defensive end, which is something the Hawks need a lot more of.

While it will take years to find out what Risacher can accomplish in the NBA, don’t expect him to be the next Victor Wembanyama. Overall, the 2024 NBA Draft class isn’t considered to be very strong.
