The 2024 NCAA men’s basketball offseason has been an exciting one for the Arkansas Razorbacks. The program received a huge shot in the arm when legendary head coach John Calipari shocked the basketball world, announcing he was taking over that position in Fayetteville.

After 15 seasons with their rivals, the Kentucky Wildcats, John Calipari is trading in his blue for red. He will be replacing Eric Musselman, who departed the program to take the head coaching position at USC. There is a buzz surrounding the program not only because of his presence but the talent that is following him.

The Razorbacks were already finding incredible success in the transfer portal and recruiting with Calipari leading the way. On Monday morning, they had another win as former five-star prospect D.J. Wagner committed to Arkansas.

Wagner played last season with Kentucky under John Calipari. He averaged 9.9 points, 3.3 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 25.8 minutes per game. Wagner is a huge addition for the Arkansas Razorbacks, who have an insanely deep guard rotation heading into the 2024-25 season.

Wagner’s recruitment after entering the transfer portal was a quiet one. He only visited USC and Arkansas but will be staying in the SEC. The presence of John Calipari and Kenny Payne, who was recruiting him to Louisville out of high school, was too much for the Trojans to overcome.

Wagner will be joining former Florida Atlantic star Johnell Davis is also committed to Arkansas along with star incoming freshman Boogie Fland. Fland, along with Karter Knox and Billy Richmond, flipped their commitments from Kentucky to Arkansas to follow John Calipari.

Aduo Thiero and Zvonimir Ivisic also went from Lexington to Fayetteville this offseason. The Razorbacks also landed Tennessee big man Jonas Aidoo in the transfer portal. Expectations are going to be high for Arkansas, as this looks like a top-10 team to start the season.
