Angel Reese, the former standout of LSU, was greeted with thunderous applause from the Brooklyn crowd as her name resonated through the venue during Monday’s WNBA Draft. The Chicago Sky secured her talents, choosing her as the seventh overall pick.

During the draft night, a touching message from former NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony resonated with Reese, leaving her profoundly moved by the sentiments shared by the future Hall of Famer.

“I just want to say congratulations. You already know what time it is. It’s time to get going. You had a helluva college career, helluva high school career. I just wanted to say congratulations to you. Keep putting on for the city, keep holding your standards high, keep wearing your crown and keep doing what you do. The time is now. We got money to go make, we got things to do. I just want to say I’m proud of you.”

Reese responded to Anthony’s heartwarming message.

“Oh my gosh. Thank you, Melo. I really appreciate you. Coming from Baltimore, you always supported me.”

The WNBA’s official X account swiftly shared this heartwarming exchange with the broader sports community, emphasizing the significance of the moment.

Reese’s collegiate journey at LSU was illustrious, crowned by a national championship and recognition as the SEC Player of the Year. Her stellar performance boasted averages of 20.9 points and 14.4 rebounds per game.

Anticipation brims as fans eagerly await Angel Reese’s debut in the Windy City. Set for May 15th against the Dallas Wings, her entry into the WNBA promises an exciting chapter in her basketball odyssey.
