Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins faced an early playoff exit this year, falling to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card Game on Saturday night.

While Tua had a notable season, leading the Dolphins to a playoff spot, the question remains: Is Miami prepared to commit to a long-term contract for the former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback?

As we look ahead to 2024, Tagovailoa finds himself in the final year of his current contract. However, after the playoff loss, he made it clear that he doesn’t feel pressured by the situation.

“I don’t feel any pressure at all. I have full trust in myself. I have full trust in what I’m capable of doing for our organization. Outside of that we’re focusing on tonight and what happened. We’re going to simmer on this and see what we can do to get better from it going into next year.”

The Dolphins made progress in 2023, but it’s evident that they may need to take further steps in 2024 if they intend to secure a substantial contract extension for Tagovailoa.

It’s good that he doesn’t feel a ton of pressure, but he does need to feel pressure to take his game to another level. He has seemingly always come up short when the Dolphins need him the most.

That isn’t to say that the loss is all on Tua Tagovailoa’s shoulders, but his game must take the next step if the Dolphins want to become true Super Bowl contenders in the future.
